Don’t Quit; Persist & Thrive

The words “Don’t quit” have always been spoken many times in most of the seminars given by network marketers or leaders to encourage or give hope to their teams who are struggling in the business. At those events, the impact is good for those who attended – for a while. When those who attended tries to convey the encouragements they got to their teams as well, they usually encounter difficulty of translating that and the only solution is to bring their team the next time.

That strategy is good for those who have the resources and time to attend and train the next time but how can you help your team if they are unable or unwilling to invest the money and resources? Remember, their performance or results will eventually help you in creating that long-term passive income. As Rancho said to his teacher, Viru (in the movie, 3 Idiots), “Unlike you, Sir, I never abandon my weak students.” Thus, we must not abandon those not performing well. We need to help them find their edge or strength and utilize them for their advantage.

Usually, network marketers quit not because of their uplines, companies they partnered with, their team’s performance or any other external challenges they might be facing but because they can’t see that they can’t achieve their dreams through the business opportunity or they have lost hope or even doubting whether they can achieve the freedom they sought in this industry. Thus, internal motivation, showing and helping them experience a certain level of success like successful making of appointment, selling the first product or service, sponsoring and training new people, will give them the boost they would need. Suggest or give them books to read, audio and other things they need. John Maxwell once wrote, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Show you care and most of the time, your team members will not quit. Show also that you are investing in their success by helping them in what they need rather than what they think they need.

Now, no matter the difficulty or whatever happens with the rest of the people in your organization, make a decision that you will persist and thrive in fighting for your dreams. If you can see any other way of achieving your dreams and goals in life, do those first because you don’t want to waste your resources and time in building something you don’t 100% believe. Learn everything about business and not just about network marketing business since you can learn from traditional business and apply it in your MLM business. Another impact of understanding the traditional business is it allows you to have the strategy and the language to give them the proper invitation and motivation to join your team since that will allow you to think the way they think and know all their concerns – and address them without them even knowing it.

Lastly, let us strive to learn and live to be better people – better leader, better parents, better spouse better friend, neighbor, colleague, relative and a better person – because over all, network marketing business is all about people; that’s why it is called a “people business.” The people’s concern comes first before business. If we do it the other way around, before long, the business will crumble since the foundation is wrong.
