In any business, no matter how big or small, we must never take other people’s businesses for granted. When they decide to do business with us, we must appreciate and do our best to return something to them of equal or greater value. Those small businesses being given to us will eventually create big businesses which would tip our profits to great yields. We don’t only focus on the big business givers or makers; we focus also on the small ones hoping that it will become big businesses. Remember that their business must be earned and not just on a one-time basis but whenever we remember their business’s impact to our business because time and attention have real and quantifiable value.
When we take people’s business for granted, the result would be a loss of client, profits and most importantly, network. They will take their business elsewhere and find ways to eliminate the business relationship you, most likely, have not easily fought and won.
Thus, the next time we take them for granted, remember all the good things a person’s business have given (or will give) to us in networks, loyalty and recommendations. These things can’t be measured by profits or monetary value but mostly, they can make or break your business. If they’re taking you for granted, teach them a lesson they won’t forget.
